These photographs were taken during the restoration/conservation of the rifle
at the Colonial Williamsburg Gunsmith Shop. Dave Wagner did most of this
project.
An earlier campaign of work had replaced the missing side pieces on the
patchbox and refinished the stock to a red color. The owner asked us to put in
correct side pieces and re-stain the stock.

We all loved the boldness of this engraving. The complex shading gave a nearly
three dimensional effect. (top)
Sidepiece that Dave Wagner made to replace the missing original. Photo taken
before darkening the engraving to match the original. The boar's head and
hunting horn on the lid is found on Indian trade guns and longrifles from many
regions. (top)
