Samuel Miller, Lebanon County, PA, ca. 1830

These photographs were taken at the Colonial Williamsburg Gun Shop where this rifle was displayed for many years. It was part of the group of rifles we used to illustrate the changing styles from early to late rifles.

The box was originally designed based on rococo elements but their details have been lost due to the lack of engraving.

The white in the incised carving is old wax.

Lock signed M.M. Maslin Warranted. The "engraving" is actually rolled decoration on these late locks.
